According to the National Statistics Office's 2024 livestock census, Mongolia is home to approximately 4.7 million horses. With such an extensive equine population, the opportunity to systematically gather, structure, and utilize lifelong health, breeding, and diagnostic data is monumental.

Moriton National Horse Center is Mongolia's premier comprehensive equine care hub, bringing together over 20 years of veterinary expertise, certified equine clinicians, veterinary surgeons, technicians, and specialized trainers. The organization's vision is to champion the distinctive qualities and strengths of Mongolian horses globally.

Moriton's operations span a comprehensive suite of veterinary and equine services:

Founder Dr. Adiyagiin Naranbaatar (DVM) serves as Founder, Director, and Chief Veterinarian with more than two decades of distinguished experience. He graduated from the Mongolian University of Life Sciences with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and completed his Master's degree at University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland (2010–2012).

Since 2019, Moriton has performed advanced equine orthopedic and limb surgery. In 2022, they inaugurated a purpose-built, state-of-the-art equine hospital facility delivering multi-disciplinary equine care under one roof.

THE CHALLENGE: ONE HORSE — ONE LIFELONG DIGITAL RECORD

Moriton already assigns each horse a unique registry identifier (Unique ID) through its proprietary M System.

However, Khuvsgul AI's preliminary phase analysis revealed that horses frequently receive disparate examinations, treatments, and follow-ups across field visits without consistent longitudinal system linkage.

Consequently, accessing a horse's complete lifelong health history from a single source or analyzing historical treatments against new diagnoses remains difficult.

Moriton's clinical team is digitizing paper records across 2024, 2025, and 2026 while systematizing core veterinary workflows. Our engineering team is dedicating two months to building this robust data architecture.

STARTING FROM THE BUSINESS PROBLEM, NOT THE AI

At Khuvsgul AI, this initiative did not begin with rushing to deploy AI models. Our proven methodology is:

In the current phase, we are breaking down the equine registry step-by-step to define exact data inputs, user journeys, operational sequences, and data models. Following this, UI/UX prototypes will be tested directly with practicing veterinarians.

Given Mongolia's vast steppe geography, veterinarians frequently operate in remote areas without cellular connectivity. We are engineering a mobile/tablet-optimized architecture supporting offline data collection with automated cloud synchronization upon reconnecting.

THE MACRO VISION — A NATIONAL MONGOLIAN HORSE DATABASE

The ambition of this initiative extends beyond upgrading Moriton's internal clinic software.

Our long-term goal is to build the foundation for a national structured database of Mongolian horses—unifying registration, health histories, clinical exams, lab diagnostics, therapeutic records, breeding genealogies, and longitudinal follow-ups.

Starting with individual horses, this repository will scale across thousands of horses over years, creating an unprecedented biomedical asset for Mongolian equine health, disease surveillance, injury prevention, and breeding science.

FROM REACTIVE TREATMENT TO PROACTIVE PREVENTION

A cornerstone of our vision is transitioning from reactive treatment (diagnosing after disease or injury manifests) to proactive prevention—empowering veterinarians, trainers, and breeders with early warning indicators.

With structured, high-quality data, AI and predictive analytics can identify recurring risk markers across historical examinations, blood panels, and clinical histories to avert severe health crises before they develop.

BRIDGING MONGOLIAN EQUINE DATA WITH GLOBAL RESEARCH

We are actively exploring synergies between Mongolia's emerging equine database and world-leading veterinary research ecosystems.

A key frontier is establishing connections with the University of Cambridge Department of Veterinary Medicine and Equine Hospital in the United Kingdom.

Cambridge boasts world-class equine diagnostic capabilities including digital radiography, high-resolution ultrasound, video endoscopy, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), alongside pioneering molecular surveillance of infectious diseases and genetic research.
